It is incredibly hard to self-diagnose and we are finding that it is much easier for people to reach a successful diagnosis by meeting others with LLI. There is an exceptionally unique sense of relief when you meet other people who are ‘exactly like you’, your whole perspective on life and living with low latent inhibition will change and hopefully become more comfortable. For those out there with LLI, chances are that most of the difficulties you have faced or have yet to face have been experienced by others with the condition too. A lot of the relief we have witnessed by people who come to the Facebook group stems from knowing why they have felt different, that they are not alone and that there are others like them who are there to help.

In 1979, British sociologist, Peter Townsend published his famous definition, "individuals ... can be said to be in poverty when they lack the resources to obtain the types of diet, participate in the activities and have the living conditions and amenities which are customary, or are at least widely encouraged or approved, in the societies to which they belong (page 31)". Hello, I have had terrible fluid retention (about 10-15 pounds that appeared overnight for the last year and a half.) I’ve had every blood test, stool test imaginable. The basic blood test showed possible dehydration and everything else is fine including kidney function. My diet is caffeine free and full of whole foods. I exercise daily which allows me to sweat out some fluid (Since this fluid retention I sweat excessively and very easily during exercise- the extra layer of fluid makes me feel very hot.) I drink around 3 litres of water per day. I’ve tried to add some pink Himalayan salt to food but this makes the fluid worse. Fluid is sometimes really smooth and other items really puffy suggesting that it’s moving between intracellular and extracellular. I’ve tried drinking more water but I just hold more. If I get hot or sweat slightly I become even puffier! I’m so fed up, please help!

Chronic fatigue syndrome and low body temperatures are symptoms of mitochondrial failure. As the body’s core temperature decreases cellular energy also decreases thereby leading to profound and chronic fatigue that is not relieved by sleep. The normal functions of maintenance, repair and cleansing are slowed and problems develop when body temperatures drop below normal. When the body temperature is low, the body cannot maintain its homeostasis/balance in the way it was designed. The actions of enzymes, vitamins, minerals and essential body chemicals become "depressed".
